Job description

About the Opportunity

The South Shore Regional Hospital (SSRH), in Bridgewater, is seeking full-time and locum physicians for our Hospitalist program. Our program currently consists of four Hospitalist lines covering 15-18 patients of mixed acuity. This position is 7 days on, and 7 days off, with 8 : 00 am to 5 : 00 pm shifts, and call required 2 to 3 nights per week of work. Our site is close knit, provides ample support and a rewarding work experience.

The setting for our program is the SSRH, which is a friendly and collegial workplace where everyone actually does know your name. The hospital houses a 24 hour level III Emergency Department and district trauma centre, 5 bed ICU, 3 operating suites, skilled nursing staff and Helipad for emergency airlift to Halifax. Inpatient Units includes Surgical, Medical, Obstetrics & Nursery, ICU, and Mental Health. Interested candidates must be fully licensed or be eligible for full or restricted licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.

Responsibilities

  • be accountable for appropriate workload and practice
  • provide care and coordination of community-based care, and secondary and tertiary level heath care
  • operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority
  • participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities

Expected Hours

Remuneration is $.25 per day (8 hours) for the full line. Call is an extra $ per night on weekends (Friday - Sunday) and statutory holidays or $ per night on a weekday (Monday - Thursday), plus fee-for-service billings for anyone seen after 5pm and before 8am. There are also sessional rates for callback services which are subject to the prevailing annual MSU increase in accordance with the - Physician Agreement and any future negotiated agreements.
