GeneralSummary .

The Safety Specialistprovides technical support and tactical execution in the implementation ofCompany safety programs within assigned facilities.

He or she will also beresponsible for training and support of safety programs of assigned facilities.

This position will beresponsible for ..

  • Serve asdesignated safety representative of assigned facility, coordinating andimplementing all areas of the Company safety programs.
  • Conduct trainingand coach teammates on work habits in support of this effort.
  • Supportmanagement’s efforts to ensure compliance with corporate Safety Programexpectations and applicable federal and state law.
  • Conducting safetyself-audit and inspection programs, maintaining accurate records of suchaudits, implementing recommendations for corrective or preventive measures whengaps or non-compliance items are discovered, and following up to ensuremeasures have been implemented.
  • Identify andinform management of compliance issues, safety risks and improvementopportunities through the conduct of daily, weekly and monthly audits.
  • Facilitateincident investigation process.
  • Maintain accuratedaily, weekly and monthly metrics reporting to onsite management teams andcorporate based reporting systems.
  • Provide immediateaid for individuals needing medical attention.
  • Train and assistothers to complete their Safety responsibilities.
  • Basic Knowledgeof Warehouse and Distribution activities such as receiving, transportation pickand pack, inventory counts.
  • Monitor safetyregulations as applied to the use and handling of equipment, vehicles andlicensing requirements.

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degreein related field preferred and 4-6 years of relevant experience.
  • In lieu ofdegree, high school diploma or GED and 6-8 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient inMicrosoft Office applications.
  • Excellent writtenand verbal communication and presentation skills to all levels of managementand teammates.
  • Extensiveknowledge with OSHA regulations and safety management principles.
  • Must havedemonstrated knowledge of safety regulations, accident / injury prevention, andproject management.

Physical / Cognitive Requirements

  • Ability to usehands to finger, handle, or feel.

  • Must possessvisual acuity, i.e., close, distance, and color vision, depth perception andthe ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability tolift / carry items less than 40 pounds.
