We're looking for a high performing Director, Tax to be part of the Finance leadership team and to lead the tax function in our high-growth, multi-jurisdictional private company. You will be responsible for tax planning, compliance, risk management, transaction support, special projects, and accounting for taxes.
WHAT YOU'LL DO :
- Manage reporting staff, including selection, coaching, mentoring, development, performance management, and all other people-management practices.
- Identify, develop and oversee execution of domestic and international tax strategies to maximize tax efficiencies, including cross-border treasury operations
- Responsible for ensuring all domestic and foreign income tax compliance requirements, including foreign affiliate reporting requirements, are met. Manage external service providers, contractors, and other advisors to help complete these requirements
- Lead sales tax and VAT compliance and risk globally, including overseeing operational technology and executing on opportunities to make automation improvements
- Lead transfer pricing strategy, including development of policy, execution of transfer pricing transactions, and overseeing the drafting of intercompany documentation and journal entries
- Identify and execute on tax and other government incentives that may be available to the Company and its employees throughout domestic and global operations
- Build relationships with the business and lead on tax matters providing high levels of customer service while identifying tax opportunities and risks
- Design tax strategies to minimize risk, manage controversies, and build relationships with global tax authorities, while leading tax planning across organic growth, M&A, and capital movements
- Develop and execute ongoing strategies for tax controversy domestically and globally in conjunction with external advisors
- Lead cross-border tax planning and minimize risks associated with organic growth, M&A, and movements of capital and cash
- Assist with Corporate initiatives as needed, including directing due diligence, transaction support, reorganizations, dissolutions, integration of acquired targets, and other special projects
- Provide tax support to senior executives and internal functions such as the People Team, Finance, and Legal
- Monitor domestic and global tax policy changes and other international tax developments, proactively responding to new risks and opportunities as they arise, and share knowledge and best practices with the team and in the business groups
WHAT YOU'LL NEED :
CPA / CA designation, the CPA In-depth tax course or Masters of Taxation with at least 15 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experienceExtensive corporate tax experience in a firm or in industry with a multinational corporate groupExtensive experience with Canadian income tax including the foreign affiliate rulesStrong understanding of cross-border tax issues, transfer pricing and US tax conceptsExperience with tax planning, tax risk management, business and transactional support, and accounting for income taxes under US GAAPDecision Making : consistently chooses the best course of action (from a number of alternatives) to address business problems and / or opportunitiesInfluence : Asserts own ideas and persuades others, gaining support and commitment and mobilizing people to take actionProblem Solving : uses an organized and logical approach to find solutions to complex problems.
