Health & Safety Supervisor

Levert has a great opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety Supervisor in the mining industry in Northern Ontario. This is a 4 day on / 3 day off rotation.

Ability to work collaboratively with workers, safety reps, and management.

Job Summmary

Health and Safety Supervisor ensures workplace safety by identifying hazards, implementing controls, training workers, enforcing procedures, and maintaining compliance with laws like the OHSA, acting as a key link between management and staff to prevent injuries through hazard recognition (RACE model), documentation, audits, and continuous improvement, all while fulfilling specific legal duties to protect workers.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Hazard Management : Recognize, assess, control (RACE model), and evaluate workplace hazards; correct unsafe work practices.

Worker Training & Guidance : Instruct, coach, and motivate workers on safe procedures, equipment use, and health & safety policies; ensure workers understand hazards and controls.

Compliance & Legislation : Stay familiar with and enforce the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and relevant regulations; ensure programs meet certification standards (e.g., COR).

Program Implementation : Develop, implement, and audit health and safety programs, procedures, and documentation.

Incident Response : Participate in accident / incident investigations, follow-ups, and reporting.

Documentation & Reporting : Maintain detailed logs, journals, and management reports; ensure documentation is clear and frequent.

Communication : Act as a liaison, responding to worker concerns, advising on risks, and communicating findings to management and committees (JHSC).
