Pay Range

RPN) $22.44 - $28.99 / (RN) $28.69 - $36.71

The Child and Family program services families who are caring for children with complex medically needs. The clients are from 1 to 25 years old and require specialized care and nursing skills at home or in a school setting (bus escorts for school and attending medical appointments with clients (with HCCSS approval).

This program has both shift and visiting nurse opportunities. The Child & Family program covers Central East (Scarborough), North York, Toronto Central & Central West regions.

As a Child and Family shift nurse, you will provide personal care and all medical interventions such as tube feed, preparation, and medication administration.

Care and clean medical equipment and supplies (syringes, feeding tubes, and suction canisters). You will get training in paediatric care and various nursing skills in tracheostomy tubes, mechanical ventilators, and g-tubes feed (among others).

There is a $2000 Sign-On Bonus for full-time nurses!

Key Areas of Accountability

VHA's Nurses are required to do the following tasks, but not limited to :

Assess, Monitor, and Makes Care Planning / Care coordination

Evaluates care plan interventions through on-going reassessment and evaluation results.

Ensures the quality of care of patients by identifying and acting on factors which affects practice autonomy and delivery of quality care.

Demostrates professionalism, leadership, judement, and accountability in interactions with client and families.

Supports client safety care through the development of knowledge and skills in accordance with our principles of continuous quality improvement.

Informs nursing supervisor of any client activities and relevant concerns or changes in the client or the client care plan and informs / submits appropriate documentation to the case coordinator.

Maintains documentation standards according to the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Required Qualifications :

Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).

Membership of your Professional Association preferred (RNAO / WeRPN).

RN diploma / degree or RPN diploma from a recognized university or college.

Valid First Aid or CPR Certification.

Pediatric care nursing experience is an asset.

Acute Care and Medical-Surgical nursing experience is an asset.

Knowledge of community nursing is an asset.

Demonstrate effective communication (written and verbal) and documentation skills.

Demonstrate reliable attendance, punctuality, and availability for the role.

Commitment to modeling lifelong learning and professional growth and can apply critical thinking skills to provide client care.

A valid Ontario driver’s license (G License) and a reliable vehicle for traveling is an asset.
