Job Summary and Requirements

The Government of Yukon is comprised of fourteen departments and six corporations, each delivering programs and services to Yukoners.

This posting is to fill two permanent HRC II full-time position.

The Registry Process

This competition will be used to consider candidates for an HRCII position within the Department of Health and Social Services. In addition, candidates certified through this competition will be added to the Yukon government Human Resource Consultant Registry for pre-certification in the Yukon government, within the Human Resource Consultant Series (HRCI and HRCII). Applicants who pre-certify will be placed in HRC Candidate Registry, the level and salary below are then determined once hired into a specific department :

HRCI Salary : $67, - $77, per annum

HRCII Salary : $73, - $84, per annum

The Ideal Candidate

Health and Social Services is currently looking for someone with experience providing leadership and coaching to managers and employees in all areas of HR management. This includes activities in recruitment & staffing, performance management, organizational development and creating job descriptions, and employee wellness and accommodation.

If you are client focused, have the ability to handle a high workload with a variety of changing priorities and good communication skills, we want to hear from you!

Condition of Employment :

  • Government notary (or Notary Public) within 3 months of hire.

The Opportunity

The Human Resources branch at Health and Social Services is looking for an HRC II to join our team. We work in partnership with department managers and employees to achieve high employee engagement, positive employee / management relations, strategic recruitment, and high retention. We work together as a team to meet the HR needs of a large, diverse department – we support each other, we value work-life balance and offer flexible work arrangements!

As an HR Consultant II on our team, you will collaborate with clients and provide a high standard of HR services and resolution-focused advice, particularly in the areas of recruitment, labour relations, and accommodation. You will prioritize HR-related requests and issues for your client group and chair staffing activities. We are a very busy branch with a lot going on - in this position you will be managing multiple activities, and you’ll have an opportunity to deploy a full range of human resource management knowledge and skills. Essential Qualifications

  • Recent experience providing leadership and coaching to managers and employees in all areas of HR management
  • Experience problem solving difficult issues, and providing advice and options to clients
  • Recent experience working in an organization with standardized processes (such as legislation, policies, procedures, or frameworks) including activities in recruitment & staffing, performance management, organizational development and creating job descriptions, and employee wellness and accommodation
  • Post secondary education in business administration, organizational development, human resources, leadership and employee management, communications / marketing, other related fields
