Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Work a minimum of twelve (12) hours in any given dayWork outside in all weather conditions and on occasion at elevated heightsEnsure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety and operationsReview instructions from Operations Supervisor and discuss with conductor and train crewInspect all railcarsReceive and transmit information by 2-way radio and telephoneRead and understand bulletins, work orders, and switch listsAssist and instruct train crews to couple and uncouple cars, operate switches, and make minor repairs to railcars, including replacing heavy couplings or air brake hosesWork with train crew to ensure accurate movement and placement of carsMaintain situational awareness of surrounding area and suspicious activity to ensure rail safetyComprehend color and / or hand signals and systems.Physical Requirements

For example : performing track switching duties requires :A good sense of balance is required as these tasks are performed outdoors where terrain may be uneven and slippery, from product, wet, icy or snow covered.Basic Qualifications & Requirements
High school diploma or GEDCROR Rules QualifiedFirst Aid level 1 certificationBC Class 5 Drivers license or equivalentCanadian Citizen or Permanent ResidentMinimum 2 years conductor experience within CanadaCertified Locomotive EngineerCertified on the application of Distributed Power LocomotivesDemonstrated ability to trouble shoot locomotive comm loss, as well as mechanical and system failuresDemonstrated knowledge and ability to re-sequence locomotivesStrong understanding and comprehension of gauge readings in a locomotiveAbility to communicate clearly and effectively with peers, customers, and railway supervisorsAbility to read and interpret documents such as the Canadian Railway Operating Rules, General Track Bulletin, TGBO, Daily Operating Bulletins.Preferred Qualifications
