ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
This role reports to the Sport & Recreation Program Coordinator, and the Fitness & Wellness Coordinator.
SUMMARY
The Student Assistant - Front Desk will assist in the operation and supervision of the fitness centre, gymnasium, and recreation programs within the KPU Sport & Recreation department. The Student Assistant - Front Desk will be required to work up to 15 hours per week on the Surrey campus.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide customer service to students, faculty and staff, while maintaining the front service area, fitness centre and gymnasium.
- Provide information to the KPU community about what programs and services we offer.
- Assist with Sport & Recreation program registration, sport equipment rentals, laundryservices, membership inquiries and daily tracking.
- Set-up and take-down of equipment for fitness classes, intramurals, and sport programs.
- Monitor and control the inventory of fitness and sport equipment.
- Supervise the fitness centre and gymnasium facilities ensuring KPU policies are being followed at all times.

Current full-time KPU student (9 credits or more) in good standingAbility to communicate effectivelyAbility to problem solve and stay organizedAbility to exercise a high level of initiative and responsibility, occasionally working independently and establishing priorities and meet deadlinesAbility to work as part of a team and handle potentially unusual and unexpected situationsBasic knowledge of computer skillsSalary Information
Student Assistants are paid as per the following :
Less than one year of post-secondary (less than 30 credits) - BC Minimum Wage
One year of post-secondary (30-60 credits) - BC Minimum Wage plus 8%
With a post-secondary diploma or degree - BC Minimum Wage plus 21%
