About The Team And Role

As a Senior Android Engineer, you will own core consumption areas of the Everand app (Home, Discover, Saved, Audio Player). You will collaborate closely with engineers, designers, QA, and product to align technical decisions with user needs and platform capabilities. Your work will drive performance, personalization, and reliability, and shape the technical direction of our Android team.

Responsibilities

• Design and build high‑quality Android experiences that make reading and listening more personal, discoverable, and organized.
• Collaborate with product, design, QE, and engineers to deliver features that are performant, intuitive, and visually polished.
• Strengthen the app’s architecture and performance, ensuring smooth playback, fast load times, and a reliable offline experience.
• Contribute to technical direction, helping evolve Everand’s Android foundations and development best practices.
• Partner with other engineers to improve code quality, test coverage, and release reliability.
• Participate in code reviews, mentorship, and design discussions to help the team grow and move cohesively.
• Champion a user‑first mindset, grounding technical decisions in how they enhance the reading and listening experience.

Qualifications

• Significant experience building and shipping high‑quality consumer Android apps at scale.
• Fluent in Kotlin with deep experience in Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flows, and modern architecture patterns (MVVM or MVI).
• Keen eye for usability, accessibility, and performance; skilled at building intuitive, beautiful interfaces.
• Experience in media or streaming apps (ExoPlayer or Media3) and strong understanding of seamless playback and offline delivery.
• Excellent cross‑functional communication; works early and often with product, design, and QA to align on goals and trade‑offs.
• Ownership mindset: takes responsibility from concept to release and prioritizes long‑term thinking.
• Passion for mentoring and knowledge sharing, supporting team cohesion.
• Deep empathy for users—understanding what makes Everand impactful in daily lives and translating that into features.

Optional “Plus” Experience

• Improving app reliability, load performance, or crash metrics in large‑scale Android apps.
• Familiarity with dependency injection (Hilt/Dagger) and Compose Navigation.
• Experience with Auth0 or similar authentication frameworks.
• Interest in cross‑platform collaboration with iOS or React Native teams.

Salary & Compensation

In the United States, San Francisco salary range: $146,000 – $227,500 (California). Outside California: $120,000 – $216,500. In Canada: $152,500 CAD – $202,000 CAD. Pay ranges are based on local cost benchmarks. The role includes competitive equity and a generous benefits package.
