Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Project Coordinator will work closely with Project Managers and Site Superintendents to ensure project plan administration supports the execution of field operations. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of project execution.

This position is based on a project site in the Halifax area.

What You Will Be Working On

Opportunity Management & Opportunity Response

  • Support and open toidentifyingBusiness Development opportunities that bring in new projects.

  • As required, support the Proposal Lead inour responsesto clients with the support of Marketing and other team members.

Pre-Construction

  • Support Project Manager inestablishingPreconstruction in Progress (PIP) form, KPI’s and monthly updates.

  • Responsible forassistingthe Project Assistant in administrative project set-up andestablishingdocument controls under the direction of the Project Manager.

  • Assistwith preconstruction planning activitiesincludinglook ahead schedules, HSE, Procurement, Construction Logistics and Project Execution Plans.

  • Support with tender package submittal, subcontractor tender package recommendation to clients, subcontract award costcodingand SAP upload sheet.

  • Assistwith obtaining all permits and local authority permission to build.

  • Work closely with team members and decision makers toidentify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective project delivery.

  • SupportVDCteam with Logistic Planning, Clash Identification / resolution and 4D scheduling.

Construction

  • Work closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent to minimize their need to do task work.

  • Supportpullplanning session with Subcontractors.

  • Assistwith price change orders, track requests for information, review andcoordinatesapprovals of shop drawings, and coordination of information provided and required by sub-trades and suppliers.

  • Prepare and update the project budget, schedule, and cost report during construction under the direction of the Project Manager.

  • Participate in weekly subcontract progress meetings and progress tracking.

  • Assistwith updating andmaintainingweekly master projectscheduleand ensure Superintendent look-aheadsare aligned. Monitor productivity rates and subcontractor planned vs. actuals in the schedule.

  • Provide support in setting up the billing schedule with the client and execute the billing and invoicing.

  • Support management of subcontracts including monitoring notification periods and value increases.Assistin managing payments, settling disputes if theyariseand subcontractor performance evaluations.

  • Identify,addressand resolve issues and problems as, or before, they occur.

  • Manage subcontract submittals.

  • Develop andmaintainpositive relationships with client(s), consultant(s), sub-tradesand suppliers.

  • Provide assistance toProject Manager in ensuring project health, safety and environmental standards meet legislated requirements and company policy.

  • Assistinmanaging ofBIM/VDC on site with trades and consultants.

Post Construction

  • Assistwith the completion of any deficiencies and issues related to the warranty period.

  • Support the Project Manager in ensuring total completion ofprojectincludingcontractuallyand financially.

  • Assistin completing project close outincludingclose-outreport, final purchaseordersand outstanding charges.

What we are Looking For

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or construction management

  • Eligible for, or haveattained, E.I.T., P. Eng., CET, or PQS designations

  • 1-3 years’ “hands-on” experience in the capacity of project coordinator supplemented by other aspects of construction management including cost estimating, direct project management of large commercial, high rise, civil and/or institutional construction projects

  • Ability to forge, grow andmaintainpositive relationships

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictableactivities,capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment

  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

  • Sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in challenging, fast paced environment

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
