The Engineering Designer will be responsible for designing, detailing, developing, supporting install, field support including but not limited to the Weir Pump houses, Barges, Custom ETO equipment, Cyclone Clusters, Lifting equipment and Pump integration.

Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities :
- Design, specify, develop, Detailed drawings, supervision installation support, start up support, field support of Weir Pump houses, Barges, Custom ETO equipment, Cyclone Clusters, Lifting equipment and Pump integration.
- Responsible for ensuring superior quality through end-to-end project delivery - from conception, prototype, to post delivery and support is delivered by Weir to our customers on time and on budget. This will include design, development, validation, verification, and inspection.
- Produces 3D CAD models and 2D Engineering Drawings according to the master timeline while utilizing continuous improvement, starting from rough design concepts up to detail / final production drawings where necessary or applicable using NX, Teamcenter, SAP, AutoCAD to document designs.
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and Bill of Material (BOM), enter completed BOM into the company ERP / MRP system, Teamcenter PLM / PDM system, and develops the Product Structure within NX, Teamcenter and SAP.
- Reviews Customer Statement of Requirements providing timely and accurate feed back to the Sales and Product Management Departments in support of the quoting function.
- Prepares, completes, and furnishes a complete Shop Package of drawings, specifications, work instructions, BOMs, ITPSs and other materials to the Production Departments both internal and external.
- Provides user support for NX, Teamcenter PDM / PLM software, and Weir Minerals ISO Product Realization Procedures and Engineering Processes within the Weir Minerals
- Identifies and ensures compliance to applicable standards, specifications, regulations and industry standards and ensures Weir equipment meets those requirements.
- Provide mechanical calculations, analysis and simulations from basic first principles following established design practices. Supports FEA specialists as needed with designs and boundary conditions and loads.
- Support the Bid Preparation for Mechanical technical, costing and equipment layouts as needed.

Education and / or Experience :
Mechanical Engineering Technologist diploma, 2 or 3 year College program.Minimum 5 years experience in mechanical design and drafting.Expert user of 3D & 2D CAD packages (Siemens NX (UG), AutoCAD). Parametric relationships, large assembly.Expert Drafting, GD&T standards, tolerance stacks for complex components, assemblies and systems.Expert user of Teamcenter PLM / PDM package.Experience in Industrial equipment is required.Knowledge, application and adherence to technical and safety standards, industry best practices and regulations in Weir’s field of business.Founded in 1871, Weir is a world leading engineering business with a purpose to make mining operations smarter, more efficient and sustainable.
