About the Role
Spirit Omega Inc. is seeking an experienced Field Heavy Duty Mechanic to support our clients by ensuring equipment remains safe, reliable, and fully operational on active jobsites. This role is ideal for a self?motivated technician who enjoys working independently, solving problems on-site, and building positive relationships with customers.
Field mechanics are dispatched directly to customer locations and expected to diagnose, service, and repair a wide range of heavy equipment while representing the professionalism and service standards of Spirit Omega.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment located at customer worksites.
- Complete on-site servicing, including oil and filter changes, lubrication, tire repairs, hose replacements, battery swaps, and other routine tasks.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, fuel, and propane systems.
- Replace or recondition components to restore equipment to safe operating condition.
- Identify wear, damage, or potential issues and recommend necessary follow-up actions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety?compliant work area at all times.
- Provide customers with guidance on proper equipment operation and procedures to reduce downtime.
- Complete accurate service reports, repair logs, and digital work orders.
- Follow company field service protocols and uphold safety standards.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with site personnel.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate and test multiple types of equipment (e.g., lifts, generators, pumps, compressors).
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and safety documentation.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with digital tools and basic computer operations.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
- Strong organization, time management, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility to support changing jobsite needs and participate in on-call rotations.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Off Road or Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) certification.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Personal set of professional-grade hand and power tools suitable for field repairs.
