Our client is looking for a Canadian Intermediate Tax Analyst to join their growing Tax Team.
About the Opportunity
- Assist with preparation or review of Canadian federal and provincial income tax returns and review of returns, including being responsible for the accurate, and timely filing of all tax forms and elections
- Assis with CAD tax provision, tax payable and continuity schedule
- Supports the compliance process and review of commodity tax returns including sales and use tax, HST / GST, PST, excise tax, and other related filings
- Coordinate and liaise with personnel from accounting departments, business units and external service providers to ensure the monthly, quarterly GST / HST processes are accurately administered and completed
- Support the management of tax audits and assessments by performing technical analysis and gathering documentation in support of the audit process
- Coordinate with US tax Accountants for tax provision, continuity schedule, and tax filings
- Assemble the necessary documentation to support annual transfer pricing studies
- Participate in special projects / perform technical research as assigned by management
- Staying up to date on developments in Canadian & US tax law and regimes that impact the organizational structure
- Research and liaise with external tax consultants / firms and hold internal meetings to discuss finding and form sound solutions
- Research tax issues and filing requirements for various project work outside of North America
- Establish strong cross-functional working relationships with business units including Legal, Operations, Accounting, Business Development, Human Resources and Treasury to ensure tax risks are proactively identified and managed
- Consistently monitor and evaluate the internal processes and guidelines to ensure efficiency and provide recommendations on optimizing and automating the tax function while minimizing tax risks
- Assist with US Sales and US tax monthly filings
About You
CPA designation or close to designationIn-depth OR Masters of Tax in progress3+ years of tax experience, with Big 4 firm experienceSolid Canadian tax experience and US corporate tax knowledge with understanding of cross-border tax issuesCommodity tax experience and / or international organizations operating in multiple jurisdictionsTeam player who will partner in the processStrong organization skills and professional communication ability (verbal and written) for a variety of audiencesProven technical, analytical and problem-solving skillsProactive, self-starter with a commitment to continuous improvementDemonstrable and exceptional attention to detailExcellent excel skillsAbility to multi-task, prioritize, and work to deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentAble to change direction in response to unexpected events or circumstancesHow to Apply
