The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director, Stakeholder and Community Engagement, the Senior Manager is responsible for effectively building and strengthening the IESO’s relationships with municipalities, Indigenous communities and local community participants.
The Senior Manager will lead the Regional and Community Engagement, and Indigenous Relations teams to successfully deliver on the IESO’s engagement strategy.
This will be accomplished through the development of engagement and outreach plans that will create awareness and participation in regional planning and key sector initiatives with Indigenous communities, municipalities and local community participants.
What you'll be doing
- Provide leadership in the development and implementation of engagement strategies, systems, policies and plans to maintain and enhance IESO’s reputation and relationships with Indigenous communities, municipalities, and local community participants.
- Direct work priorities, administration and management of a multi-faceted team to ensure that they deliver on divisional and corporate goals.
The key activities include :
- Develop and lead the broader Community Engagement and Indigenous Relations strategy to improve the visibility and awareness for IESO initiatives at a local level.
- Develop and lead municipal and community engagement plans to assist in gaining community participation in bulk plans, regional plans, and other key IESO initiatives.
- Build and strengthen relationships with key municipalities and Indigenous communities to raise the IESO’s visibility and enhance the relationship to facilitate positive outcomes.
This will include meetings with and presentations to senior administrators, elected officials and councils.
- Provide supervision to staff, including full responsibility for hiring and advancement, staff development, training, all aspects of performance management, including dismissal, administering work and ensuring staff output effectively meet business needs and goals.
- Ability to assume the signing authority and represent the Director on occasion.
Who you are
- Knowledge and experience in community and Indigenous engagement
- Proven success in managing relationships and corporate reputation through creating and delivering on communications, engagement strategies, plans and programs
- Experience in business strategy, managing teams, budgets and developing staff
- Exceptional writing and presentation skills
- High degree of political acuity, able to understand and navigate municipal processes
- Requires knowledge of business management functions and business strategy
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, conceptual and forward thinking skills
- 10+ years of experience in Stakeholder and / or Community Engagement or related fields

The IESO offers a hybrid work model program to most of our employees, based on business needs. Individuals participating in the program can work an average of three days per week remotely within Ontario.
It also offers three flex weeks when individuals can work remotely within Ontario . When working in the office, you will be located at our Mississauga, Toronto, or Oakville location.
