Job description

Position : Superintendent – Electrical / Instrumentation

Location : Kapuskasing, ON – Papermill

Kap Paper Inc is seeking a Superintendent to oversee planning and direction for the Site Services area. The role involves optimizing processes to deliver site and electrical maintenance services in the most cost-effective way, supporting the production of pulp and newsprint. This position ensures the Site Services team aligns with the principles and objectives outlined in the Results Management Framework.

Requirements :

  • Language : English (spoken and written) and French would be considered an asset.
  • Education : University degree – Electrical or College equivalent.
  • Experience : 7+ years preferred.

Responsibilities :

  • Promote and provide a safe workplace, seek improvements, and support Health & Safety.
  • Lead a motivated, efficient, and engaged team of direct reports.
  • Provide career development opportunities.
  • Coach and mentor employees to ensure maximum performance.
  • Ensure maintenance services are effectively planned, co-ordinated and delivered on time, while meeting cost and quality standards.
  • Maintain and improve an effective preventative maintenance standard to ensure maximum efficiency and performance of mill equipment.
  • Report to Maintenance Manager.
  • Manage the Filter Plant, the mill’s power system to ensure that processes are in place to prove continuous water and power safely and efficiently at minimum cost within environmental guidelines.
  • Ensure E / I areas are manned with a capable workforce by applying succession planning systems, coaching, accountable leadership practice and training.
  • Recommend improvements and / or changes to the maintenance management system and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety / environmental legislation and take corrective action as required.
  • Maintain an effective cost reduction program.
  • Identify opportunities or risks related to manufacturing or processes and work effectively with colleagues to take appropriate action.
