Job description

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Commissioning Engineer on behalf of one of BC’s largest electrical and utility providers.

Position Details

Contract Duration : 1 year

Location : Langley | Hybrid

Overview

The Commissioning Engineer will focus on distribution and substation support, developing operating procedures and energizing plans to ensure safety and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Participate in staging discussions and develop energizing plans, checklists, and operating orders.

Support operational processes for internal and external projects, including independent power producers (IPPs).

Review, update, and approve operating orders, responding to operational queries, including protection and control (P&C) topics.

Provide engineering support for real-time operations, operator training, and procedure development.

Investigate system disturbances, prepare reports, and contribute to analysis and presentations.

Enhance tools and processes, liaising with external entities to address operational concerns.

Collaborate with project teams to ensure readiness for project or equipment energization.

Define requirements and deliver timely support for project and program execution.

Must-Have Qualifications

Minimum of 8 years of experience in a relevant engineering field or equivalent.

Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation with Practice to Permit certification.

Utility experience.

Proficiency in reviewing and approving electrical and technical drawings.

Intermediate English skills (written and spoken) for a professional environment.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering recognized by Canadian universities.

Ability to work in-office on an as-needed basis. Nice-to-Have Qualifications

Real-time operations experience.
