Edmonton Zone Continuing Care provides services through five main program areas : Home Living, Supportive Living, Facility Living, Transition Services and Palliative Care.Facility & Supportive Living (FSL) has an immediate opening for a Driver I. As a Driver I, you will be responsible for pickup and delivery of medical / surgical supplies, confidential information, office supplies and occasionally equipment. The position requires you to use your own vehicle, with mileage reimbursed (per the AUPE GSS collective agreement). Drivers must be able to work independently and be relied upon to be always professional and courteous. Drivers must be comfortable interacting and building rapport with staff, Contracted Operators, and the public (clients). The FSL program works out of the Edmonton Community North Health Hub (13211 Fort Road) and drives throughout the Edmonton Zone (which includes neighboring counties). The program operates during the week (Monday through Friday) and the business hours of 8 : 00am – 4 : 15pm.
Description :
As a Driver I, you will transport a range of products including, but not limited to, mail, packages, medical supplies, equipment, food and linen, in accordance with AHS standards, regulations and policies. Working independently, you must adhere to scheduled routes, as well as ad hoc requests, in a safe and courteous manner. You will be expected to perform a series of routine duties such as logging mileage, cleaning vehicles, performing pre and post vehicle inspections and reporting defects and malfunctions to management.
Required Qualifications :
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Must hold a valid Class 5 Alberta Operator's Licence. Completion of valid Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certificate.
Additional Required Qualifications :
Must possess a reliable, suitable, personal vehicle. Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Hold a valid Class 5 (non-GDL) Alberta Operator’s License. Must be physically able of lifting up to 50 pounds, to sit / drive for extended periods, push / pull cart, enter / exit vehicle continuously, and navigate weather conditions. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Have intermediate skills using a computer and mobile phone. Possess excellent driving skills including ability to navigate unfamiliar areas, compliance with safety regulations and traffic laws, and ensuring safety for self and community. Ability to exercise independent judgment in making decisions and prioritizing workload. Successful candidate must : Have upgraded vehicle ‘Business Insurance’, with reimbursement for the increased cost (per AUPE GSS).
