About the Role

The Volunteer Services Coordinator is an exciting opportunity to join an established team in the beautiful town of Red Deer. This position works closely with the site leadership team and will be empowered to develop a robust volunteer program which will support employees, residents and families through various activities and programs throughout the site. In this part time role, you will continue to build and maintain Bethany CollegeSide’s volunteer program, engaging the local community, acting as direct liaison for volunteers, supporting site events and ensuring that standards of service excellence are maintained through all interactions with others.

Hours of Work : 23.25 hours per week (3 to 4 days per week - flexible hours between Monday and Friday, days of the week to be determined with the selected candidate) What You Will Do :   Reporting to the Volunteer Services Manager, the individual responsibilities of this part time role will fall under the following areas :

  • Day-to-day coordination and administration of volunteers and the volunteer program at Bethany CollegeSide.
  • In collaboration with staff, assess current and future needs and plan for volunteer engagement and recognition.
  • Recruit, select and orientate volunteers according to site demand.
  • Develop volunteer position descriptions.
  • Liaise and work with community organizations, including schools, churches, service clubs, etc. to increase awareness of the Bethany CollegeSide site.

What You Bring :

  • Grade 12 Diploma
  • 2-3 years of volunteer coordination or program experience
  • Diploma and / or training in volunteer management
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience as a volunteer preferred
  • Knowledge of dementia and related issues would be an asset
  • Ability to build and establish relationships with staff, community, residents and their families
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet strict deadlines
  • Highly self-motivated and community oriented
  • Superior organization and administrative skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and public speaking skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Previous experience with volunteer management software is an asset
