We seek an upbeat, experienced, and well-rounded AVP of CI Property and Casualty Pricing to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the VP of CI Pricing, this role is ultimately responsible for developing the pricing strategy to grow our P&C portfolio profitably in CI business segments using exceptional actuarial expertise, analysis, and insights. The role is accountable for the leadership and direction of over $1.4B of Property and Casualty portfolios within the Commercial Insurance business.
The purpose of this role is to deliver and implement best-in-class rating programs across all regions and segments for CI P&C portfolio. Our successful candidate will lead the success of all rates and rating programs implemented across Aviva Canada's Commercial Property and Casualty book, excluding large accounts.

What you'll do :
A key partner with CTU and Underwriting to resolve regional / segment pricing strategies and complete those strategies to optimally grow our business profitably
Supervises our competitive position across Canada by collaborating with business development and internal competitive intelligence teams and leverages this information to improve our business
Works closely with the analytics team to bring to market sophisticated pricing models, including machine learning as well as dynamic market models
Works in close collaboration with other business areas, such as CTU, Underwriting, Analytics, Claims, Finance, and Corporate Actuarial, to develop a deep understanding of the dynamics of the commercial insurance marketplace and use this knowledge to respond to known and anticipated trends.
Support the quarterly and annual Commercial Lines planning process by providing technical and qualitative input.
Responsible for leading and motivating a team of actuarial professionals to achieve outperforming results. This includes supporting their professional development and the overall integrity of the work performed by the actuarial pricing team
Manages relationships with various internal and external partners such as Underwriting, Analytics, Claims, Finance, Corporate Actuarial, Distribution and Provincial Regulators. Positive relationship-building and negotiation skills are required
Ensure that appropriate audit controls exist and serve as the source material for regulatory reports.

As part of any decision-making process or strategic change, you must consider customer interests and ensure that decisions result in fair customer outcomes and treatment.
Understand and champion the Group's Risk Management Framework, including all Risk Policies and linked Business Standards; reporting, customer concern and governance processes (including all legal and regulatory requirements);
Maintain effective and efficient risk management and internal control systems that align with the agreed risk appetite. Where necessary, directing action plans to rectify ineffective controls and bring associated risks within appetite, including outsourced arrangements, in a timely manner.
Identify, own, and lead any specific key risks and / or key controls you identified as the owner for on iCARE. Maintain appropriate records and ensure that controls are well crafted and operating effectively to mitigate the risks they mitigate within Aviva's tolerance level. Report and escalate the status of the relevant risks and controls as appropriate.
What you'll bring :
Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, or other related field or equivalent experience.
Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society
7-10 years of relevant pricing experience.
Market reputation for leading business focused teams and translating deep pricing expertise into business strategies
Shown management capabilities and strong analytical skills.
Proven understanding of the commercial insurance line of business, including rate indications, pricing, and coverage.
Data-driven decision maker, able to complete detailed research and investigation yet make timely decisions.
An understanding of reserving, finance, accounting, investment and insurance principles.
Ability to think long-term strategically and operationally
Strong ability to influence partners and drive decisions to improve business outcomes
Ability to identify key priorities and problems, acquire relevant information, identify root causes and generate alternative solutions to reach sound management decisions.
