About the Opportunity

Youth Engagement Coordinators work closely with Health Promoting Shcools (HPS) partnerships within the Regional Centers for Education and with partners in community to facilitate and support youth engagement. Youth Engagement Coordinators will work closely with Health Promoters, Public Health (PH) teams and many other partners to support schools and communities to implement school and community-based, HPS and youth-focused wellbeing action plans.

Youth Engagement Coordinators are members of PH Healthy Communities team. In this role they will apply Public Health frameworks and standards, along with key partners' guiding documents. They will work with youth, adults, schools, youth-serving organizations, communities, and systems to strengthen skills, abilities, processes and resources to support children and youth as change agents. They will work within the school and community environments to support youth engagement with an ultimate focus on improving health.

These positions require a strong background in youth engagement, health promotion, community development, understanding of Health Promoting Schools, knowledge of the school system and a solid track record in building partnerships.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following :

  • Baccalaureate degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Education, Community Youth Development, or other relevant field with relevant experience.
  • Masters’ degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years related job experience.
  • Experience in working with youth including developing and implementing youth engagement, peer mentoring, knowledge sharing and skills building strategies.
  • Experience in planning, development, and evaluation of health promotion policies and programs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of population health and health promoting schools approaches.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of health equity and the impacts of the social and structural determinants of health on health outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using a variety of methods.
  • Demonstrated success in building strategic partnerships, networks, coalitions, and collaborative working relationships with a variety of internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary setting with a strong focus on school settings.
  • Demonstrated planning, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to deal with competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated judgment, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrated innovative systems thinking with an understanding of working with schools and communities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community development and mobilization.

Hours

  • Permanent Full Time / % FTE / 70 Hours Bi-weekly
  • Compensation and Incentives

    35.09 - $44.10 Hourly
