As a Mechanical Estimator working in the Preconstruction team at Pomerleau Construction, you will support new and ongoing project growth and challenge industry standards with your trade-driven expertise and knowledge. Working on large-scale building and infrastructure projects – ranging from $ million to upwards of $1 billion – you will work closely with our proposals team and various client groups to secure bids and ensure project success.

What You Will Do

  • Jump in and collaboratively complete the full-cycle bid process.
  • Collaborate, collaborate, collaborate! Share your mechanical expertise when working with team members, trade partners, consultants and clients.
  • Actively complete full quantity take-offs to ensure accuracy of contract specifications and pricing.
  • Take pride in compiling material price list updates / analysis in addition to labour productivity and unit rates.
  • Utilize your research skills to work with and update historical data like purchase orders and analysis reports to help summarize reports for future estimates.
  • With an eye for detail, accurately interpret technical specifications for bid documents.
  • Grow and maintain strong relationships with trade partners, consultants and clients to achieve the project goals and vision.
  • Celebrate the successes and be a key member of the project ramp-up process.

This role could be for you if you have

  • 1 to 4 years of relevant M&E estimating experience, along with a University Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education and industry experience.
  • Proven ability to interpret mechanical drawings and contract documents, and strong computer skills with estimation software.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, coupled with a passion for building relationships.
  • Enthusiasm for innovation and a drive to continuously improve.
  • Knowledge of the Ottawa / Gatineau market and the ability to work throughout the National Capital Region.
  • MUST be able to obtain a Government of Canada Secret level clearance as per project contractual requirements.
  • MUST be bilingual in both official Canadian languages, English and French.
