As a mechanical design engineer in our mine shaft system’s team, you will be responsible for the design of mine shaft equipment from concept to completion of detail drawings. You will work alongside a team of engineers, designers, and drafters dedicated to producing quality products for our customers. We have the tools, the people, and the software to provide you the confidence to develop solutions that our end users rely on.
Your responsibilities
Responsibility for design integrity of project in line with standard FLS practices.
Responsible for on-time, on budget, quality of engineering packages for individual projects.
Works on standardization, product improvement, and development efforts of mine shaft system’s product line.
May work on research and development projects.
Analyze complex design problems. If applicant is a licensed engineer, may become responsible for certification of equipment.
Travels to job sites and regional offices as required in support of equipment problems, installations, and sales efforts.
Promotes a safe and collaborative culture which extends to others who may be affected by the company’s operational activities.
What you bring
Strong interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, willing to learn, willing to educate, and a general respect for the engineering profession and its ethics.
Experience with Solidworks or other similar 3D modelling software.
Heavy equipment design. Knowledge of CSA W59, CSA S16-1 and CSA S157 is an asset.
Experience with static and dynamic stress analysis.
Understanding of the mechanics of materials. Aluminum design experience is an asset.
Knowledge of underground mining operations and the mining industry is an asset.
A licensed Engineer, or an individual with potential to obtain, will be an asset.
Engineering Diploma or Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
