LEAD MAINTENANCE MECHANIC, industrial (442 or 433 or millwright)
WINNIPEG (near the airport)
- $42-46 / hour
- Monday-Friday Day shift : 8am-4pm with flexibility
- Full time permanent after 600 hours
- Maternity / Paternity leave top up
- Interview process : 1 virtual + 1 onsite + 1 written evaluation (10 questions) + medical assessment
- Team size : 4 + 2 apprentices
- No direct report
- Report to : Shift supervisor
- Must have criminal background check
Lead Maintenance Mechanic (442 or 433 or millwright)
The Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for leading maintenance operations within the service center to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance, repair, and replacement of plant and facility systems. This role is a key contributor to supply chain performance, supporting production continuity and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Safety
Champion a Zero Harm safety cultureEnsure full compliance with company policies and all applicable local, provincial, and federal safety regulationsTrain, coach, and motivate maintenance staff to meet performance and safety objectivesConduct LOTO training and support safety audits (including GAP audits)Interview, evaluate, and support onboarding of maintenance team membersCoach and sign off on completed apprentice hoursMaintenance & Operations
Lead corrective and preventative maintenance activities on industrial equipmentReview, prioritize, and manage work orders, PM programs, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiativesExecute and oversee all CMMS activities; maintain system accuracy and act as an in-house CMMS resource / trainerCoordinate internal resources, external contractors, vendors, and engineering / project teamsSchedule major maintenance activities, including weekend work when requiredManage equipment downtime in relation to production and shift reportingCoordinate procurement, receipt, and inventory of maintenance parts and consumablesTechnical Expertise
Troubleshoot and repair :Basic Electrical systemsHydraulics and pneumaticsRobotics (fundamentals)Perform or oversee welding and fabrication workApply basic machine shop skills (drill press, grinding, measuring, hand filing)Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (CSA, ESA, TSSA, OSHA)Qualifications & Requirements
3 years of maintenance and millwright experience2 years leadership experience442 or 433 or at least a millwright equivalencyCriminal checkProven experience leading industrial or plant maintenance teamsStrong hands-on background in mechanical, electrical, and automation systemsSolid understanding of CMMS systemsRockwell PLC fundamentals and troubleshooting of automated linesAbility to work flexible schedules and overtime as requiredStrong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skill#OPSK
