Reporting to the Project Manager the Senior Cost Controller is responsible for the development, implementation, training and execution of all project controls processes and systems on a large-complex project. Supervise all project control personnel assigned to the project and ensure that all project control activities such as project administration, change management, project estimating, cost management and schedule management comply with all client and company standards and contractual requirements.
What You'll Do Here
Assist in project set-up, converting bids into baseline budgets, reconciling gapsEstablish and maintain the CBS & control accounts in alignment with baseline budgets; connect SAP with CPM for alignment of financial reportingManage chart of accounts library to ensure consistency & alignment with established budgets; ensure WBS & CBS alignmentProactively monitor forecasts to ensure timely closure of closed cost accountsEnsure forecasts are updated timely & accurately; ensure forecasting is informed by performance KPIs & project trendsLiaise with Finance & Accounting teams to support project level financial forecasting & month end reportingLiaise with Procurement, Finance & Accounting teams to ensure appropriate Subcontractor & Purchase order management, accurate incurred cost reporting via timely accruals & invoicingPrepare and update project cash flow forecasts in alignment with the project scheduleParticipate in proposal and estimating efforts to ensure continuity between project estimates and baselinesLiaise with external groups (Accounting, Finance, Procurement, Construction, etc.) to gain inputs into Project Controls reportsCreate & maintain project status update reports, forecast reports & project dashboards; ensure timely issuance to internal & external stakeholders (per client requirements)Create & maintain customized reports or dashboards to adapt to evolving risks & project needsDevelop and maintain resource plans, ensuring cost & schedule alignmentRegularly conduct variance analysis to understand trends & other baseline deviations in support of rigorous change management; provide variance narratives & propose corrective actions or recovery plansPrepare Earned Value Management KPIs to assess project performanceAssist in the creation & maintenance of tools & templates that ensure compliance with the processes outlined Project Controls plan & contract requirementsDevelop and maintain a change log to track all internal & external changes and monitor progress through the change management processReview the contract to ensure compliance with contract conditions regarding reporting, change management, and all other Project Controls areasProvide subject-matter expertise to project team on any customized reporting tools & dashboardsRegularly conduct detailed analysis on project performance key metrics (e.g. CPI, SPI, key commodity tracking, etc.); propose corrective actions to maintain performance / productivity; provide timely feedback to project leadership on adverse trendsSupport the implementation of an Earned Value Management plan to measure project performance, identify variances, and inform accurate forecastingSupport the development of project-specific Project Controls plans, and the development of tools & templatesPerform any other project / cost control related role as may be assigned by the RFBR Project controls Manager, functional Manager or Program ManagerWhat You Bring To The Team
8 to 12 years industry experience on similar projects4 to 8 years’ experience in Project ControlsKnowledge of SAP and other project management tools would be an assetGood knowledge and experience in Primavera Project ManagerAdvanced skills in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)Results oriented individual with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and time linesPeople oriented with an ability to establish a high degree of credibility with staff and clientsA strong leader who can motivate and engage a team with demonstrated strength in leading highly complex groupsAn excellent written and verbal communicator with superior interpersonal and relationship management skillsCommitment to working in a team environment
