About the role

We are in search of an experienced Senior Accounting Manager to lead the daily accounting operations and aspects of financial management. The successful candidate will be responsible for full-cycle accounting and some financial management; financial reporting and analysis, construction project accounting, evaluating and implementing internal controls and process improvements, budgeting and forecasting.

What you"ll do

  • Manage the day-to-day accounting activities, accounts payable, cash management, reconciliations, maintaining chart of accounts, GL, sub-ledgers and inter-company reconciliations.
  • Manage the financial close process (monthly / quarterly / annually), including ensuring data is accurately recorded, review journal entries, account balance reconciliations and report preparation
  • Develop and manage internal controls and processes for budget accounting, cashflow and credit management, AP, purchase order process, and other accounting activities.
  • Guide decision-making based on policies and lead process improvement initiatives.
  • Build stakeholder relationships; deal effectively with ambiguous and unstructured problems and situations.
  • Analyze reports and data to provide information to relevant stakeholders for optimizing business.
  • Prepare and lead the budgeting and forecasting for new projects and potential acquisitions.
  • Oversee the preparation of payroll for multiple companies.
  • Participate in hiring and training of accounting staff. Initiate open and candid coaching conversations.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in construction or real estate company in a senior accounting or finance position.
  • CPA, CA or other relevant professional designation.
  • Motivated and self-directed leader with enthusiasm about contributing to the growth and development of the accounting team and the wider company success.
  • Interest in being hands-on in the accounting function, with the ability to manage, develop and mentor accounting staff.
  • Good understanding of Canadian tax rules, reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Experience preparing T2's, preparing and analyzing financial statements and financial metrics.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and timelines and implement processes and procedures. Strong organization, time-management, problem-solving, analytical and communication skills, ability to pay strong attention to details and a proactive approach.
  • The pay range for this role is :

    90,000 - 110,000 CAD per year(Surrey, BC)
