THE OPPORTUNITY

The Coordinator, Community Relations & Sustainability will report to the Supervisor, Government & Community Relations and is responsible for supporting and administering community relations initiatives and reporting on corporate social responsibility and sustainability.

This position is part of a team in which you will work alongside the Advisor, Community Relations. The Coordinator, Community Relations & Sustainability will be highly involved in the communities in which Al-Pac operates and serves, working with external stakeholders in building relationships, managing expectations, and solving problems.

This role is responsible for administering Al-Pac’s community investment program, coordinating community relations activities as directed by the Supervisor, and assisting the Supervisor, Sustainability with the collection, tracking, and reporting of environmental, social and governance (ESG) data and metrics.

In addition, this role will provide general administrative support to the Indigenous & Stakeholder and Sustainability department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Community Investment Program Administration :

  • Administer Al-Pac’s community investment program.
  • Collect and track donation requests and commitments.
  • Provide recommendations regarding community investment requests in accordance with Al-Pac policies and program guidelines.
  • Administer external scholarship and school award programs.
  • Administer the Community Enhancement Program, My Time Volunteer, Team Member Charity and other community investment programs.
  • Prepare documentation for community investment administration.
  • Prepare reports and presentations.
  • Respond to information requests from external stakeholders regarding Al-Pac’s community investment program.
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement of Al-Pac’s community investment program in alignment with corporate objectives.

Coordinate Community Engagement Activities :

Coordinate and / or support community relations activities including the logistics in collaboration with other business areas (e.

g., mill tours, community events and meetings, career fairs, information sessions, open houses, etc.).

  • Monitor and coordinate the Community Relations email account.
  • Prepare materials and reports as required.

Coordinate ESG Reporting :

  • At the direction of the Supervisor, Sustainability, collect, track and prepare ESG data and metrics in collaboration with other business areas for internal and external reporting using a variety of applications.
  • Support preparation of ESG reports and other materials for multiple audiences and purposes.
  • Support responses to ESG questionnaires and surveys.
  • Track and support performance reporting for Al-Pac’s ESG Framework.
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement for workflows and processes.

General Administration Support :

Provide general administration support for the Indigenous & Stakeholder Relations and Sustainability department, as approved by the Supervisor.

Document Preparation :

Support preparation of documents using a variety of computer applications and tools, research, gather and summarize information and data, and develop reports, briefings, presentations, and information packages.

Compliance :

Comply with the organization's policies, procedures, program guidelines and relevant regulatory requirements and codes of conduct to ensure individual work adheres to those standards.

THE INDIVIDUAL

Given the pivotal role this individual will be expected to play in achieving the strategic objectives of the company and in supporting the success of the organization, it is essential that the successful candidate possess the following core competencies, experience, and attributes :

Education

Minimum of a post-secondary certificate, preferably in administration, business, stakeholder engagement, sustainability studies or a related field.

Experience

  • 3-5 years professional experience in a corporate setting, preferably in the forest or natural resource development sectors.
  • Strong administration and organizational skills with superior attention to detail.
  • Understanding of ESG and related reporting frameworks, such as the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to engage with external stakeholders and the public with professionalism and tact.

Competencies and Knowledge

  • Computer Skills supports business processes and workflows with systems acumen.

  • Confidentiality maintains organizational, business function and individual confidentiality and manages private, sensitive and confidential information accordingly.

TRAVEL

This position requires some travel to communities within and near Al-Pac’s Forest Management Agreement area.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Al-Pac professional staff work Monday Thursday from 7am 5pm. This is hybrid eligible in accordance with Al-Pac’s Hybrid Work Arrangement Program.
