What’s The Role
The Product Handler is part of a team of 16 people with the objective of delivering safe and reliable operations to serve Shell’s fuel customers in the local market, to be a supply point for other Shell terminals, and for product export. Adherence to Shell and regulatory compliance, Shell’s Code of Conduct, and maintaining the “License to Operate” is essential. The role is crucial for day‑to‑day operations and serves as a key interface with contractors and carriers while overseeing product handling (rail, marine, pipeline, truck), maintenance and project activities.
The Shellburn and Burmount Terminals receive refined products (gasoline, distillate and biofuels) via rail car and marine, and ships and products via pipeline, marine and truck. The position operates on a continuous 24 / 7 schedule, requiring shift work and occasional overtime. Representation is by the UNIFOR Union, Local 601.
- Maintain compliance with company procedures and government regulations related to HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental) and various agency permits.
- Handle, receive, transfer, ship and store petroleum products via pipeline, rail car, marine and truck.
- Physical offloading of railcars.
- Provide general maintenance, surveillance checks and housekeeping to support terminal assets for a safe, secure and environmentally sound operation.
- Initiate emergency response actions for people and processes.
- Solve loading rack malfunctions.
- Conduct quality assurance sampling and testing of products.
- Accountable for compliance with company HSSE and regulatory procedures.
What You Bring
Legal authorization to work in Canada on a full‑time basis for anyone other than the current employer.Minimum of a high school diploma.Experience with MS Office suite including Outlook, Excel and Word.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Willingness to work outside in inclement weather.Physically capable of unloading railcars, including unbolting manways, manipulating and connecting hoses under the rail car.Willingness to climb ladders, walk up and down steps, and work at heights.Willingness to work a rotating shift work schedule.Comfortable working alone outside normal business hours and / or with minimal supervision.Willingness to work overtime, holidays, nights and weekends.Willingness to be on call and meet call‑out standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies.Willingness to support and comply with the company’s safety policies and initiatives.If you don’t see yourself fully reflected in every job requirement listed above, we still encourage you to reach out and apply.
