Business Systems Analyst

6 Month Contract

Hybrid, Toronto

We are seeking a highly motivated Business Systems Analyst to join our growing cloud data platform team. You will play a pivotal role in supporting a critical program focused on the enablement of advanced analytics for enterprise consumption. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of this cutting-edge platform while fostering its adoption across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough business requirements analysis to define user needs and translate them into actionable tasks for the scrum master and development team.
  • Create and manage user stories in Jira to ensure clear communication and project tracking.
  • Participate in prioritizing work with the scrum master, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Provide project status updates to keep stakeholders informed.
  • Leverage strong technical understanding to analyze existing systems and map data flows.
  • Collaborate with developers to delegate coding tasks based on functional requirements and desired outcomes.
  • Employ exceptional analytical skills to analyze data and build data models.
  • Develop clear and informative data visualizations to communicate insights effectively.
  • Manage and model data within the cloud environment, with a focus on Azure cloud services.
  • Contribute to the team's success through expertise in business intelligence, data movement, and cloud infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or similar role.
  • Experience with business requirements analysis and Agile project management methodologies.
  • Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages.
  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and draw meaningful insights.
  • Experience with data modeling and data visualization techniques.
  • Prior experience working within a cloud environment, preferably Azure (Databricks, ADLS, Synapse, ADF).
  • Familiarity with data warehouses, data lakes, data integrations, and data movements.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • A “figure it out” mindset and willingness to find novel solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
