Purchaser / Procurement Specialist

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Purchaser / Procurement Specialist with a strong background in sourcing spice ingredients and raw materials for food production. This role is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring a consistent, cost-effective, and compliant supply of ingredients to support ongoing production and new product launches.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies for spice ingredients aligned with cost, quality, and supply continuity objectives.
• Lead contract and pricing negotiations , particularly for commodities and specialty ingredients impacted by seasonality and global market conditions.
• Manage all raw material purchasing activities , including purchase order creation, order verification, shipment tracking, and invoice approval.
• Coordinate raw material requirements with customers' buying teams to support specific product needs.
• Source and purchase ingredients from domestic and international suppliers , including multiple countries.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Production, Replenishment, Quality Assurance, and Logistics to ensure timely procurement and successful new product launches.
• Identify, qualify, and onboard new raw material vendors , negotiating pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
• Maintain and manage the Approved Vendor List , ensuring all suppliers meet SQF and food safety compliance requirements .
• Complete vendor scorecards annually and as required to support QA audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work closely with the Production Scheduler to align ingredient availability with production plans.
• Prepare daily and weekly production reports related to ingredient requirements.
• Oversee import and export processes for spice goods, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations.
• Coordinate inbound pickups with internal logistics teams and external freight and logistics providers.
