Role Overview
Brunel is partnered with a leading engineering and consulting organization supporting complex industrial projects across Canada and internationally. We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering design, construction, and maintenance solutions for large-scale mechanical systems. This role is well suited for a senior mechanical engineering professional who enjoys hands-on technical work, field exposure, and client interaction, and who can lead projects from concept through execution in heavy industrial environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute office and field-based mechanical engineering projects, including major design and construction initiatives
- Prepare detailed mechanical designs, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation
- Develop proposals, scopes of work, cost estimates, and contract documentation for mechanical and multi-discipline projects
- Perform or oversee construction inspections, testing, and commissioning activities
- Prepare engineering reports documenting project progress, findings, and completion
Field & Technical Support
- Conduct or oversee field surveys and site visits throughout the project lifecycle
- Perform analysis of field data and translate findings into engineering solutions
- Review mechanical components, systems, and materials for compliance with design and operational requirements
- Deliver technical presentations and project updates to clients and internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams across mechanical, civil, electrical, and structural functions
- Support junior engineers and contribute to overall project quality and delivery excellence
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Active Professional Engineer (P.Eng) registration in Québec (OIQ) or ability to obtain within one year
- 10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical and/or industrial engineering design
- Proven experience leading complex engineering projects from design through execution
- Strong knowledge of CAD development and preparation of drawing packages across design stages
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and engineering best practices
- Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Bonus Experience
- Experience conducting site visits, field measurements, and interpreting technical calculations
- Background supporting heavy industrial environments such as Mining, Pulp & Paper, Bulk Materials, or similar facilities
- Experience with tools such as Revit, Belt Analyst, and Dust Collection Modeling software
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, multi-project environments
