We are seeking an experienced Functional Specialist to join our IT team. This individual will play a critical role in supporting and enhancing our Mainframe and Customer Data Management systems, particularly those using COBOL applications and Custom Developed Customer Information File (CIF). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mainframe technology, COBOL, and customer data management solutions, with a focus on maintaining data integrity, security, and accessibility.

R esponsibilities

  • Stakeholder Collaboration : Work closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements, provide functional insights, and suggest solutions that align with business goals.
  • Functional Expertise : Act as the functional specialist for mainframe applications related to customer data management. Develop a deep understanding of existing COBOL applications and support enhancements, migrations, and optimizations.
  • System Analysis and Support : Analyze, design, and maintain mainframe applications, particularly COBOL-based systems. Ensure consistent, reliable system performance and troubleshoot complex technical issues to support business operations.
  • Customer Data Management (CDM) : Work with CIF and other Customer Data Management systems to manage and support customer data. Ensure accuracy, compliance, and security of customer information.
  • Project Support : Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, and project managers, to support the development and implementation of projects related to customer data management.
  • Documentation : Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, workflows, and processes to support knowledge sharing and training across teams.
  • Compliance and Security : Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations related to customer data management. Implement best practices in data security, privacy, and access management.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience
  • 6+ years of experience in a functional or technical role with mainframe systems, particularly in a financial services or customer data management environment.

  • 3+ years of experience with COBOL programming and applications on mainframe systems.
  • Familiarity with Customer Information File (CIF) or equivalent Customer Data Management (CDM) systems.
  • Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of mainframe architecture, particularly COBOL applications.

  • Hands-on experience with CIF and / or customer data management best practices.
  • Knowledge of database management on mainframes, including data structures, security, and optimization.
  • Soft Skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and best practices related to customer data management and data security.

  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Experience in the financial services industry.
  • Bilingual
  • English and French)
  • Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.
