Base pay range : CA$150,000.00 / yr - CA$200,000.00 / yr

A leading organization in the construction sector is seeking an experienced Director of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS). This role offers the opportunity to shape EHS strategy, champion a strong safety culture, and drive continuous improvement across complex projects.

The Role

As the Director of Environmental Health & Safety, you will lead EHS operations across major business units and projects while advising executives and senior operational leaders. You will oversee a team of safety professionals, ensuring consistent implementation of EHS strategies and programs.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and inspire a culture of safety and environmental stewardship, driving initiatives that promote continuous improvement and operational excellence across all business units and projects.

Manage and guide EHS teams, ensuring effective delivery of safety programs and alignment with organizational goals and regulatory standards.

Lead the investigation of incidents and near misses, analyzing data to identify trends and implement effective solutions that reduce risk and improve outcomes.

Supervise the management of workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs, ensuring compliance and supporting employee well‑being.

Develop and deliver EHS training, proposals, and client presentations, supporting business development and stakeholder engagement efforts.

Qualifications

Degree / diploma in EHS or a related discipline.

Professional safety designation such as CRSP or NCSO.

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior EHS role within construction or a related high‑hazard industry, with a proven track record of leading EHS teams.

In‑depth knowledge of applicable health, safety, and environmental legislation, with the ability to apply legal requirements strategically across multiple business groups or regions.
