Job Title : Manager, Supply Chain
The Manager, Supply Chain will lead and manage all supply chain functions at Skeena, including procurement, contract management, logistics, expediting and warehouse operations. This position ensures the effective, cost-efficient, and timely supply of materials and services required for the construction and operation of the Eskay Creek, while maintaining a strong focus on compliance, safety, and sustainability. The ideal candidate will bring strategic leadership and project development / operational expertise to optimize the supply chain, ensuring alignment with project and corporate objectives.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to) :
Procurement & Contract Management :
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to secure the best value for goods and services.
- Ensure timely and professional service to user departments in RFP preparation, evaluations of bids, negotiation with suppliers, award recommendations, preparation of contract documentation, issuance of award of contracts and regret letters, and management and close out of contracts related to materials and goods.
- Own the project procurement & contracts register. Track and delegate package ownership to members of the Supply Chain team.
- Foster strong relationships with key suppliers and contractors to support long-term project goals, with a particular focus on indigenous and / or local businesses
- Negotiate commercial and contractual conditions seeking the best possible price, terms of execution, and quality conditions.
- Negotiate and structure complex contracts that incorporate elements such as financing agreements, indigenous partnerships, and community benefits, ensuring alignment with company values and project goals.
Logistics, Expediting & Warehouse Management :
Ensure the efficient planning, coordination, and execution of logistics for materials and equipment to and from the site.Oversee the freight forwarding and expediting of materials and equipment to nd form the site from point of origin.Present regular updates and reports to senior management, highlighting key metrics, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.Risk & Cost Management :Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain operations, including supplier reliability and logistics disruptions.Drive cost savings initiatives while maintaining quality and service standards.Ensure robust record-keeping and documentation for audits, compliance checks, and performance reviews.Required Skills / Experience :
A Minimum of 10+ years of directly related Supply Chain Management experience in mining, construction, or heavy industry.Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.Working within or supporting development of an IBA / IBCA in Canada.Experience in EPCM contracting, procurement, and contractor management is desired.Knowledge of ERP systemsLeadership attributes to influence and persuade a course of action with multiple competing priorities.Demonstrated capability and experience working with Indigenous governments / communities including history, protocols, values, and governance and implementing those values is considered an asset.Strong understanding of procurement and contract management principles, including Canadian legal frameworks.Proven experience in logistics and warehouse management in remote or challenging environments.Demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of building and managing effective teams.Proficient in supply chain management systems and software.Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to thrive under pressure.Commitment to safety, sustainability, and ethical business practicesWorking Conditions :
This is an office-based job, in Skeena’s Corporate office located in downtown Vancouver, BC. Additionally, the job is in a fast-paced working environment, with having to manage multiple competing priorities.
This job requires the incumbent to be able to work away from home occasionally and to be able to travel to different work locations or events outside of regular office hours as well as traveling to Skeena’s remote project sites and collaborate with internal and external parties.
