Job descriptionPerform scheduling and tasking of reception activities to maintain system readiness for data reception. Monitor data reception activities from scheduling and reception to final data transfer to archive. Detect and report any operational and technical problems. Apply troubleshooting procedures. Assist in maintaining accurate logs of system activities and reports. Support the Senior Technician in system and equipment maintenance, Level 1 preventative maintenance and repairs, and maintenance logs. This includes climbing a ladder up to 15 metres and installing rack-mounted systems equipment (up to 30 kg). Shift work is required. Available on call 24 / 7 in rotation with other Intermediate Technicians. 1-3 years of experience required in operation of monitoring and server environments. Good computer skills, for example with system upgrades, configuration changes, installations, working with cables in confined spaces, etc. Experience system maintenance. Experience in system hardware / software preventative maintenance and repairs. The ability to climb 15 metre ladders and perform rack-mounting of systems equipment (up to 30 kg) is required. Cleanliness and attention to hygiene appropriate for working in shared building space with federal and provincial government agencies. Candidate must hold or be cleared to Reliability Security Clearance prior to commencing work. Candidate must also hold or be eligible to obtain Level II Security Clearance.
