Environmental Health Safety Specialist

Hays recruitment has partnered up with a Food and Beverage Manufacturing organization in Winnipeg to sourcing an Environmental health and safety specialist to join their team for a 2 month contract to start.

Your Responsibilities :

• Oversees site operations to meet all EHS goals and performance objectives.
• Leads and strengthens a zero‑incident culture, driving employee engagement across all locations.
• Utilizes established EHS data systems to track and report key metrics—including injuries and illnesses, environmental performance, risk assessments, action items, and other critical information.
• Conducts accident investigations and performs safety audits to ensure compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements, while reinforcing plant safety rules.
• Ensures contractors and subcontractors maintain effective safety programs by performing pre‑qualification assessments and regularly auditing work in progress.
• Implements relevant EHS policies and procedures in alignment with federal, provincial, and territorial regulations.
• Develops, delivers, and supports EHS training initiatives, including mandatory safety training and specialized programs for plant employees.
• Provides targeted training such as supervisor safety sessions and specialized employee programs, while maintaining complete accident records and supporting documentation.
• Manages workers’ compensation claims and associated processes
