Job description

Holt Executive are partnered with a leading Global Satellite and Space leader that provides reliable and secure satellite-delivered voice and high-speed data communications solutions to broadcast, telecommunications, corporate and government customers worldwide. They are now developing a LEO constellation that will revolutionize global broadband connectivity for enterprise.

Our partner is seeking a Satellite Payload Engineer to play a crucial role in the successful development, qualification, and performance of spacecraft hardware for the constellation.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Working closely with the wider payload team, you will build your knowledge of the responsibilities of a payload engineer.
  • Supporting with the development, qualification, and performance of the hardware to ensure that it meets the program requirements.
  • Monitor the spacecraft and payload unit design activities to ensure that the services and deliveries meet all technical requirements.
  • Participate in payload integration and testing activities.
  • Support through the working with cross-functional teams the resolution of design, production, or test issues.
  • Evaluate technical analyses presented by the spacecraft supplier.
  • Analyzing design and test / production data and actively participating in various meetings with the spacecraft manufacturer and other suppliers.
  • Supporting payload In-Orbit Testing (IOT) and commissioning activities.
  • Preparing presentations and regular status reports.

Required Skills / Experience :

  • A degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience (space industry experience preferred, but not mandatory).
  • Knowledge of active and passive RF component design (transmission lines / waveguides, filters, antennas, amplifiers, etc.).
  • Knowledge of electronic circuit design, processors and digital communication (digital to analog & analog to digital conversion, encoding / decoding, modulation / demodulation schemes, etc.).
  • Some familiarity with manufacturing & testing of RF / digital components.
  • Some knowledge of optical communications an asset (optical fibers, lasers, detectors, etc.)
  • Some knowledge of network components and protocols an asset (ethernet, routing fundamentals, etc.)
  • Technical expertise supported by strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Technical, presentation, interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience with, or a willingness to learn how to use collaborative software such as Jira, Confluence & Jama.
  • Familiarity with MathWorks MATLAB.
  • The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and be able to obtain a Reliability Clearance.

    This opportunity offers a hybrid work model with 4 days per week in the office and occasional travel is anticipated.
