We are also on a bus route, with a stop just outside of the hotel. Our complimentary shuttle also picks up our employees from the bus loop at UBCO

What will you be doing?

The Host/ Support position supports front-of-house and food service operations to ensure a smooth, welcoming, and efficient dining experience. This role includes hosting, food running, and expediting duties. Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager, the associate maintains service flow, cleanliness, and guest engagement in a fast-paced environment.

• Greet guests with a warm and friendly attitude
• Assist in seating guests and managing waitlists using tools like OpenTable
• Answer basic guest questions about menu items, dietary needs, and restaurant services
• Be aware of special guest requests (e.g., birthdays, anniversaries) and communicate with the service team
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entrance area
• Run food from the kitchen to guests, ensuring plates go to the correct person without auctioning off
• Organize and support the expo line to maintain food quality and presentation standards
• Coordinate food timing and flow between kitchen and service staff
• Restock and maintain service areas such as the coffee station and pass
• Clear and clean tables quickly and reset them for the next guests
• Maintain tidiness of all guest-facing and back-of-house areas
• Empty garbage bins, handle recycling, and change linen bags as needed
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation protocols
• Understand basic causes of food contamination and practice safe handling
• Assist with in-room dining deliveries and banquet setups: including event setup & takedown, serving and participation in off-site events
• Communicate guest feedback or special comments to servers and management
• Support team members during busy periods by anticipating needs and helping where necessary
• Help monitor table turnover and guest flow to maximize seating efficiency
• Use basic functions of the POS system to support order entry or payment
• Stay informed on basic hotel information, restaurant layout, and special promotions
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or managers
