Job Description

Our client, is seeking seeking and auditor to join their team. This auditor role within a government organization involves conducting audits and reviews to ensure the protection of regional assets and compliance with policies and legislation.

This is a hybrid position on a six-month contract. Responsibilities :

  • Conduct risk, governance, accountability, assurance, and control reviews of key activities, processes, functions, systems, and IT operations.
  • Perform various audit projects including assurance, value for money, compliance, and consulting audits.
  • Provide expertise, advice, and consultation on risk management and control.
  • Investigate inefficiencies or wasteful practices.
  • Manage relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Collect data and information from Region employees for audit engagements.
  • Conduct research on audit topics during the planning phase.
  • Execute fieldwork and audit testing, documenting findings and suggesting improvements.
  • Communicate effectively with Internal Audit management and team about project updates and issues.
  • Prepare presentations and formal reports for senior management and various committees based on audit findings.
  • Assist in the development of continuous auditing and monitoring practices.

Qualifications :

  • A post-secondary degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • At least three years of post-graduate experience in audit, finance, controls, risk management, project management, or consulting.

Government audit experience is an asset.

  • Strong knowledge of auditing and accounting standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to change quickly, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, including report writing and presentation abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Experience with PowerBI is an asset.
