Job description

About the Company :

Join a cutting-edge quantum technology think tank, working at the forefront of innovation in quantum systems. Their multidisciplinary team is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, and we are looking for talented engineers to help shape the future of quantum technologies.

Position Overview :

They are seeking a MEMS Engineer to support the fabrication of next-generation quantum devices. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent PhD graduate or someone with early-stage industry experience in MEMS and nanofabrication to make an impact on quantum technology development. This role will involve hands-on work in wafer bonding, microfluidics, and photonic integrated circuits, with a special emphasis on vapor cell fabrication.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Conduct wafer bonding and surface treatment as part of vapor cell fabrication for quantum devices.
  • Work on the design, fabrication, and integration of MEMS components, with a focus on either microfluidics or photonic integrated circuits, depending on project needs.
  • Collaborate with a team of physicists, engineers, and scientists to develop and refine nanofabrication processes.
  • Pattern and treat wafers to enable the creation of novel quantum system components.
  • Ensure high-quality fabrication standards, troubleshooting, and optimizing processes as needed.

Qualifications :

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, OR equivalent industry experience in MEMS and nanofabrication.
  • Experience in wafer bonding techniques, ideally within a nanofabrication setting.
  • Familiarity with either microfluidics or photonic integrated circuits.
  • Hands-on experience in cleanroom environments, wafer processing, and surface treatment.
  • Passion for quantum technology and a drive to work in a fast-paced, innovative setting.
  • Preferred Skills :

  • Previous experience with vapor cell fabrication and associated MEMS techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to novel challenges.
  • Experience with quantum devices or technologies.
  • Work Environment :

  • This role requires working on-site, 5 days a week, to engage closely with the R&D team and equipment.
  • Following your application Chris Green, a specialist recruiter will discuss the opportunity with you in detail. Chris will be more than happy to answer any questions relating to the industry and the potential for your career growth.
