The Opportunity : The Intermediate Engineer under the direction of the Senior Engineer or Senior Project Manager, is responsible for the direction and coordination of various discipline’s activities for the successful completion of projects to the standard of both Grey Owl Engineering and our clients. This role maintains liaison between all disciplines assigned to projects to ensure mutual understanding is reached on all phases of work, as defined by the contract, and to ensure continuity of job progress and design.
Complete the following detailed engineering design activities :
- Preliminary estimations and details
- Design of facility and building layouts
- Design of piping systems and layouts
- Participation in HAZOP meetings and 3D model review meetings
- Address deviations and obtain appropriate approvals when necessary
Preparation and review of project engineering project deliverables including :
CalculationsData sheetsEngineering reports (PMP’s, DBM’s, Scoping Documents, technical reports)Project specificationsDrawings (P&ID’s, Plot Plans, Isometrics, Piping Plans, etc)Project capital cost estimates and man-hour estimatesProject schedulesSupport the Project Manager in completing the following tasks :
Coordination of project activitiesMonitoring of project scope changesCost trackingSchedule trackingDevelopment of meeting agendas and participation in client meetingsManage third party contractors in the completion of assigned workSupport to the Procurement team in the requisitions of contractors, materials, and other services by :
Completing technical sections of request for quotes (RFQs)Reviewing the technical components of received bidsReviewing the technical aspects of bid spreadsLiaison between clients and vendors / contractorsReviewing vendor and contractor QC documentation following contract awardSupport the ongoing operations at Grey Owl Engineering :
Assist in organizing and maintaining design guidelinesProvide input in developing and maintaining company typical drawingsAssist with reviewing proposed or existing codes and providing feedbackAssist with the technical development and training of junior engineers and technologistsSupport company HSE initiativesRequirements :
5 - 10 years of prior related work experience in the oil and gas industry in North America in an EPCM environmentDegree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited universityProfessional engineering registered or eligible for registry with APEGAField or shop experience during the project scoping, fabrication and construction phasesSolid technical background in the design of mechanical equipment and piping systemsKnowledge and application of ASME, API and CSA codesComprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office productsGeneral understanding of the applicable regulatory codes and standardsStrong analytical thinking, negotiating and problem-solving skillsExcellent organizational, planning and time management skillsStrong communication skills : verbal, business writing, electronic communications and presentationsWhy Grey Owl Engineering?
