Your Opportunity
This opportunity is for an individual that possesses industrial utility experience in Alberta on various types of projects. Our client, a primary sector utility provider, is executing upgrades to facilities all across Alberta over an ongoing 10-year continuous improvement program. Stantec is executing the program under an EPCM MSA. The selected individual / s will support a mix of office work with project planning tasks and various meetings, however a majority of your workday will be associated with attending and supervising construction work on site. There will be numerous project sites and commuting between sites will be part of the day-to-day activities. Experience and knowledge in cathodic protection, anode beds, pipe fabrication and installation associated with pigging / receiving stations, and residential underground natural gas line replacement programs are predominantly the work scopes. Ground disturbance, pipeline, safety, and commissioning experience will be an asset. As we are the “Engineer of Record”, candidates that are able to plan, inspect, supervise, accept the construction contractor workmanship based on the Quality Plan and Inspection and Test Plan are preferred.
- Off Site work portion is to participate in project planning, and meetings.
- On-site portion is to manage the General Contractor as an Owner Representative to ensure the construction project is executed to quality standards, safely, efficiently, on schedule and on budget.
- Opportunity is for a permanent position for approximately 2 years but is likely to be extended.

- Work hours will be based on a 37.5 hour work week, with variable spot overtime scenarios based on the critical nature of each of the projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
Provide preconstruction services, developing procedures, tools and practices, and reviewing contract documents for preparation and implementation of construction phase construction management services.Support development of the Program Execution Plan.Develop and provide Construction Execution Plans for each of the programs.Perform constructability and document information.
Develop pre-construction planning, site services if required, and sequencing plans prior to construction.Support procurement in the development & evaluations of all required contractor RFPs.Review of General Contractors’ Construction Execution Plan and provide risk and opportunity itemsCoordinate and communicate with General Contractor as requiredOversee safety management plan to achieve a safe working siteOversee and perform day-to-day construction management efforts to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and scheduleEnsure contractor compliance with plans and specificationsAct as the primary interface between client, contractor, oversight representatives, regulatory agencies, utility stakeholders, etc.Monitor progress and delays of contractor’s project scheduleManage others on the team which may include coordinators, inspectors, and field coordinators.Review daily inspection reports for completeness and accuracy, and review material test reports for compliance with specificationsCoordination of document controls and record keepingReview plans, specifications, requests for information, submittals, construction schedules, shop drawings, change orders and pay applications (QA / QC)Coordination of project outage integration plans with multiple stakeholdersManage Testing, Commissioning, and Start Up requirementsManage the post-construction phase, preparing and submitting final deliverables, reviewing final pay requests and punch lists, recommending final completion, tracking of warranties, and preparation of final invoicing#J-18808-Ljbffr
