Project Accounting Specialist. This role sits at the intersection of finance and operations and plays a critical part in ensuring financial accuracy, contract alignment, and cost visibility across multiple active projects.This is a hands‑on position suited for someone who thrives in detail‑oriented work, understands construction/project lifecycles, and isfortable working closely with operational teams.What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Oversee the
financial tracking of active projects, including cost monitoring, forecast‑toplete updates, and variance analysis - Prepare and manage
project billings, subcontractor claims, purchase documentation, and supplier invoices in accordance with contractual requirements - Act as a financial partner to
project managers and field teams, ensuring timely and accurate capture of cost information - Support
monthly and annual close processes, including accruals, reconciliations, and project‑level journal entries - Review financial impacts of
change events, retention calculations, and project cash flow needs - Maintain alignment between
contracts, schedules, and financial reporting, in collaboration with procurement and operations - Ensurepliance with applicable
tax regulations
(including indirect taxes) and industry‑specific accounting standards - Contribute to internal and external
audit processes
by preparing supporting documentation and explanations - Identify opportunities to improve
processes, controls, and reporting efficiency
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of accounting experience
within a project‑driven or construction‑related environment - Proven experience with
job costing, progress billing, and subcontractor financial administration - Strong working knowledge of
project‑based accounting systems
(construction or ERP platforms) - Solid understanding of
financial controls, cost reporting, and accounting standards - Advanced
Excel
skills andfort working with detailed cost data - Progress toward a
CPA designation
(or equivalent) is preferred - Formal training or exposure to
construction finance
is considered an asset
