Summary Of Position
The Clinical Data Analyst is responsible for timely, accurate, valid and complete extraction, tabulation, analysis, and reporting of health data and statistical information in support of clinical and managerial decision making. The Analyst must transform data into information for clinical and administrative staff to support evidenced based decision making through the organization. The Analyst ensures the integrity, confidentiality and security of the organizations information with a strict adherence to privacy and protection of personal health information in line with provincial and federal legislative guidelines.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Supports data-driven decision-making by clinical and management staff through extracting, analyzing, interpreting, preparing, presenting, and distributing routine and specially requested statistical reports and dashboards using Power BI.
- Assesses and develops strategies to enhance data quality; communicates with Health Records Manager, coding staff, and nursing staff regarding continuous improvement.
- Develops routine and ad hoc reports under direction of SLT, MAC, managers, and various committees to monitor resource utilization, key performance indicators, and identify trends for continuous improvement.
- Promotes benchmarking and adoption of best practices to enhance utilization and quality improvement; supports evidence-based practices in development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical pathways.
- Promotes use of a Balanced Scorecard approach in support of corporate and departmental planning, performance, and quality measurement.
- Responsible for timely collection and submission of data to mandated national, provincial, and regional reporting systems. Liaises with multiple teams and stakeholders to support accurate data collection, compliance, and reporting.
- Collaborates with IT and clinical teams to optimize workflows within Cerner and ensure accurate data capture for reporting and analytics.
- Utilizes Cerner reporting tools (e.g., Discern Analytics) to extract and analyze clinical and operational data for dashboards and reports.
Qualifications And Related Experience
Current registration and certification with the Canadian College of Health Information Management (CCHIM)Active member in good standing of the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA)Demonstrated knowledge and use of various data sources regarding the utilization of clinical resources (e.g. CIHI’s databases : DAD, NACRS, OMHRS, NRS, CCRS)Demonstrated knowledge of CIHI grouping methodologies (CMG, CACS, SCIPP, RUG, and RPG), as well as the Ontario specific methodologies and QBPsExperience in work related to quality, utilization of clinical resources and evaluation in health care a definite assetFamiliarity with WinRecs and Cerner (and related HL7 interfacing), or commonly used systems is an assetExcellent computer skills, including working knowledge of database and spreadsheet applications with demonstrated computer skills in applications such as Microsoft Office, particularly ExcelExperience in developing dashboards and reports using Power BI is an asset.Experience working in Report Writers (e.g. Crystal Reports, SQL), as well as CIHI Portal and eReports, Intellihealth and Access to Care reporting tools is an asset.Knowledge of a broad range of data visualization techniques and experience with multiple data visualizations and reporting tools.Strong time management and prioritization skills with the ability to adaptExcellent statistical and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracyGood attendance and availability required#J-18808-Ljbffr
