Our client in York Region, ON is actively looking for a Financial Controller to join their team.

Title : Financial Controller

Location : York Region, ON

Length of Assignment : Full Time Permanent

Salary : $, - $, / year

  • Be involved in the day to day operations. Will work closely with the owner, will oversee and participate in A / P, A / R functions to ensure their accuracy including the reconciliation of vendor and customer account statements, stepping in as needed.
  • Overseeing a department of to employees.
  • Be responsible for project profitability analysis, maintain and reconcile inventory subledger, month-end financial reporting
  • Will prepare year end schedules and work with outside accountants to produce year end financial statements
  • The successful candidate will have a firm understanding of project costing, GL coding, GL accounts and financial statements.
  • Be responsible for all government reporting including corporate taxes, GST / HST, provincial sales taxes, work with external accountant with relation to USD state and federal and payroll taxes
  • Be responsible for biweekly payroll processing for staff of + , including the preparation and remittance of all payroll taxes, and preparation and filing of ROEs and Ts and provincial WSIB / WCB remittances
  • Will be responsible for the commission receivables, their collection and reporting
  • Be responsible for maintenance of commission spreadsheets including calculation and payment to sales reps
  • Be responsible for monthly bank reconciliations and financial analysis
  • Be responsible for all wire, EFT payments and remote banking deposits
  • Manage full time AP / AR specialist and part time accounting help
  • Company uses QB Enterprise (Contractor) Edition and the ideal candidate will be fully functional in this software including Inventory module, and will assist the company with transitioning to the use of Sales Orders and Purchase Orders in day to day operations

Requirements

  • Proficiency in QB Enterprise Edition including Inventory module, sales orders and purchase orders. Contractor Edition an asset.
  • Inventory experience.
  • Proven experience in financial management.
  • Project and / or construction industry an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Analytical and attention to detail and accuracy while working under tight deadlines
  • Ability to follow through and multitask
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
  • Be resourceful, have excellent organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
