Job Description
The Municipal Engineer will apply civil engineering expertise, civil technology, and construction management principles. Expect to work effectively within a team, communicate with project members and clients, and show initiative, motivation, and enthusiasm. Responsibilities include designing and overseeing municipal infrastructure projects in the water, wastewater, and stormwater sectors.
Responsibilities
- Working knowledge of water, wastewater, and drainage conveyance infrastructure in a municipal environment.
- Design civil systems associated with municipal water and / or wastewater / drainage conveyance facilities.
- Perform constructability reviews.
- Conduct construction inspections.
- Lead construction contract administration.
- Prepare documentation for design projects and reports.
- Prepare construction cost estimates.
- Develop project specifications and contract documents.
- Client communication and management.
- Assist with proposal preparation, contract negotiation, and coordination with regulatory agencies.
- Support project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent), P.Eng status in BC.4+ years of related experience with civil engineering, design, construction inspection, and contract administration.Valid BC Driver's License and access to a vehicle.Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience with municipal water, wastewater, and / or stormwater conveyance and pumping infrastructure.Proposal writing, scoping, and project management experience.Excellent attention to detail.Strong communication skills with colleagues, contractors, and clients.Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment.MMCD Contract Administration certification beneficial.Experience in condition assessment of municipal infrastructure beneficial.Design experience for lift stations, pump stations, and related mechanical equipment advantageous.Experience with trenchless technologies advantageous.Additional Information

Base salary ranges from CAD 75,000 to CAD 120,000 per year, based on education, experience, and location.
