We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Technician for our facility in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Location of Work : On-site : 4004 Wesbrook Mall, Vancouver. BC

JOB SUMMARY :

Produces accurate, complete, and presentable mechanical and electrical equipment drawings. Assembles, maintains, and assists in the calibration of equipment.

Assists in general facility maintenance and repair, and incoming inspection of parts.

WORK PERFORMED :

Produces or revises mechanical and electrical drawings from verbal information, hand sketches and previous revisions in SolidWorks.

Read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical manuals.

Designs, updates, requisitions, inspects, and assembles equipment used in production / quality facilities from engineering drawings.

Conducts regular inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance of machinery and equipment to ensure optimal operation. Document maintenance and repair work, creating detailed reports on interventions and outcomes.

Backup for water system maintenance, equipment calibration, manipulator maintenance, and general facility maintenance and repair.

Adheres to safety standards and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

Performs other duties as appropriate to this level.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Education and Experience

  • Technical diploma in an appropriate discipline.
  • Two (2) three (3) years practical related experience.
  • Experience in SolidWorks an asset.
  • Experience in GMP / GDP environment an asset.

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Must have proven drafting skills and a basic knowledge of drawing standards and standard practises.
  • Must be capable of producing neat and accurate drawings.
  • Requires a fundamental knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Requires an aptitude for hands on assembly work, as well as routine calibration activities.
  • Makes recommendations and improvements to systems and drawings.
  • Makes recommendations on new installations and modifications related to instrumentation.
  • Makes recommendations on equipment and material purchases.
  • Position involves frequent contact with staff at all levels, including TRIUMF staff. Communicates with external suppliers, external testing laboratories, equipment manufacturers, customers, FDA and Health Canada, giving information and providing explanations.

Communicates with Line Manager on issues, problems and opportunities within the department.

Working Conditions and Other Distinguishing Aspects

  • Normal hours but may be required to work weekends and evenings on an occasional or emergency basis.
  • Required to work in active areas, Nuclear Energy Worker Status.
  • Usual laboratory environment in which radioactive materials are present.
  • Works with minimum supervision.

The pay range for this position in British Columbia (CA-BC) is expected to be between $65,152 and $70,644 per year. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, retirement, and / or other benefits.

Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment and are subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
