We are currently seeking a Health Care Aide to join our team. The Health Care Aide is responsible for hands-on personal care services, medication administration, light housekeeping, meal service assistance, and participation in social-recreational activities.

Responsibilities

1. Assist residents with move-ins and facility orientation.
2. Perform light housekeeping in resident suites and common areas.
3. Support personal care activities such as dressing, bathing, and incontinence care.
4. Assist with simple transfers.
5. Respond to medical emergencies in a calm manner.
6. Assist with resident laundry and meal service as needed.
7. Follow Care Plans and report any changes or concerns.
8. Administer, monitor, and record medication administration.
9. Work with residents to meet care requirements and communicate any concerns to the doctor and manager as needed.
10. Demonstrate ongoing competence utilizing knowledge, skill, judgment, and evidence-based practice in caring for aging adults.
11. Ensure compliance with provincial continuing care health service standards, legislation, codes, regulations, and employment and safety statutes.
12. Demonstrate awareness of accident and injury prevention through safe work practices and procedures.
13. Other duties as assigned to support operational requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

1. Completion of provincial Health Care Aide certification.
2. Registered with provincial Health Care Registry.
3. Completion of Medication Administration Course.
4. Experience in a residential care setting is preferred.
5. Demonstrate knowledge of Infection Control procedures.
6. Exceptional interpersonal skills with peers, residents, visitors, and operational partners.
7. Superior organizational skills with the ability to handle multi-resident requests.
8. Superior oral and written communication skills.
9. Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and problem solve.
10. Flexibility to work a variety of shifts.
11. Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, squat, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds.
12. Display compassion, education, proficiency, and experience while assisting residents.

Conditions of Employment

1. Completion of CPR and First Aid.
2. Clear Police Information Check.
3. Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
