At Northern Wine Merchants, our goal is to create long-term personal partnerships with producers looking to provide authentic wines and spirits to the province of Ontario through all available sales channels. Our team is expanding, and we are seeking a Sales Representative to help grow our presence in the GTA. In this role, you will develop new relationships with restaurant, hotel, and catering clients, while nurturing ongoing partnerships through regular outreach by phone, email, and in-person tastings. This role is primarily remote; however, it requires frequent travel to client locations throughout the GTA and occasional attendance at industry events or trade shows, making a high degree of flexibility essential. Compensation includes a combination of base salary and commission, and is commensurate with experience. Key Responsibilities Client & Sales Support :
- Accurately input and process all wine orders in a timely and efficient manner.
- Respond to client inquiries with professionalism, clarity, and a strong service-oriented approach.
- Maintain accurate and detailed CRM records, including client information, payments, orders, backorders, timelines, and outreach cycles.
- Proactively engage existing clients to introduce new product offerings and coordinate tasting appointments.
- Confirm daily tastings and ensure seamless coordination and an exceptional client experience.
- Prepare comprehensive marketing materials, technical sheets, and product information to support tastings and presentations.
- Develop customized tasting structures tailored to the unique preferences, goals, and profiles of individual clients. Business Development :
- Research potential new restaurant clients and gather relevant contact information.
- Provide informed and strategic ordering recommendations when required.
- Participate in in-office tastings with winery partners and management.
- Conduct ongoing research into new producers and wines, assessing suitability and market potential within Ontario.
- Attend industry events to expand professional networks and remain current with industry trends. Administrative & Operational Responsibilities :
- Obtain required wine samples from the office as needed.
- Organize the weekly tasting schedule and submit it to the Sales Director.
- Learn and effectively utilize the company’s CRM system to support all administrative and sales functions.
- Support updates to the company website and social media content where applicable.
- Maintain and update the company price list as required. Key Qualifications :
- Excellent wine knowledge; WSET Level 3 or Certified Sommelier equivalent
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related role
- Proven contacts and experience in consignment sales within the beverage-alcohol industry is an asset
- Strong understanding of distribution channels and client networks in the beverage-alcohol sector is required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
