Reporting to the Head Cook (or his/her delegate), the Assistant Cook is responsible for assisting the Head Cook with food preparation, including chopping, cutting, marinating, and peeling at the assigned store or Central Kitchen. The Assistant Cook also checks the quality and quantities of received food products, carries and stores the products, and maintains cleanliness of kitchen utensils, tools, containers, clothes, towels, and work and storage areas.
T&T Supermarket Inc., founded in 1993 with two stores in BC, is now Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 31 stores across the country, including BC, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec. The company plans to expand further in the coming years.
- Responsible for storing incoming food stock.
- Prepare ingredients before cooking, such as chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or cleaning seafood.
- Ensure proper receiving and storage conditions for food.
- Maintain own station, ensuring cleanliness and readiness before and after shifts.
- Follow recipes, ingredient specifications, and SOPs for quality and timing.
- Meet sanitation standards as set by the Head Chef and Food Safety regulations.
- Practice FIFO, ensure product quality, and maintain food safety and freshness.
- Properly store and handle food, completing temperature records.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of equipment and tools; handle waste appropriately.
- Possess knowledge and experience in making Kitchen Deli products such as BBQ, Hot Foods, Dim Sum, Sushi, etc.
- Require 1 to 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of workplace health & safety and food safety; Food Safe Certification preferred.
- Good communication skills.
- Flexible to work various shifts, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, mornings, and evenings.
