We are currently searching for an experienced Health & Safety Coordinator for our Global manufacturing client in London, Ontario.
Our ideal candidate is passionate about Health & Safety and will be rsponsible to oversee and manage all operations and actvities related to the company's Health & Safety program. You are knowlegeable of all OHSA regulations, dilgent and analytical with a focus on prevention.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develop and enforce OHSA policies (e.g. accident reporting process)
- Track sustainability KPI’s / reporting, develop and implement 5S activities
- JHSC - arrange meetings, act as committee secretary, research identified items of meetings, monitor the performance of the JHSC committee
- Conduct all new hire, temporary H&S orientations and annual safety training
- Maintain files, provide notices and copies of all required materials to all committee members, and arrange for posting and distribution of minutes, etc.
- Direct accident investigation procedures, keep records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions
- Organize and conduct OSHA training plans, manage WSIB workplace claims, modified work
- Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues, intervene in unsafe activities or operations
- Liaise with and report to official regulatory bodies on OSH matters
- Arrange H&S Training (i.e. annual WHMIS training, forklift training, first aid, etc.) and monitor due dates
- All other duties assigned
QUALIFICATIONS :
Postsecondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources Management or related field3 - 5 years of solid H&S coordination in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentStrong working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS RegulationIn depth knowledge of applicable legislation, including the Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulation, Ontario Human Rights CodeExperience with WSIB, accident investigation, workplace inspection and job hazard analysisExcellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with other departmentsExperience in reporting and developing policies, implementing OHSA training programsOrganizational skills to plan and ensure work is completed accurately & within deadlinesAbility to take initiative, problem solve and deliver results (General HR experience an asset)Excellent communication skills and proven ability to engage / inspire all team membersMust complete WSIB’s Certification Part One & Part Two in the manufacturing sectorA keen eye for detail and a sensitivity for potential dangers
